It's on: Riders 7, Rangers 2

FRISCO --  I doubt that many of the guys on the Rangers 25-man roster thought of this as anything more than an inconvenience, but nonetheless, they were asked to don their spring training threads one last time and  tee it up against your 2008 RoughRiders at Dr.    Pepper Ballpark on Saturday afternoon but there's no doubt that the prospect-laden Riders --  resplendent in their red game jerseys -- thought of it as a showcase.

It was our first chance to get a look at Scott Feldman as a starter since 2004 when he started in three out of four appearances for the AZL Rangers.  

The all-new Feldman -- throwing from a high three-quarters delivery rather than the sweeping sidearm he'd employed previously -- was sharp, pounding the strike zone with a very lively 92-94 mph four-seamer, heavy 90 mph sinkers and some biting sliders. 

Through six innings, Feldman surrendered three innocuous hits and one mammoth jack by Ian Kinsler that cleared the street behind the left-field entrace gate.   Feldy fanned six and walked just one.

Chris Davis slammed a pair of doubles including a fifth-inning shot off the right field wall.  Davis was plated by Taylor Teagarden who guided an oppy double down the right field line to tie the game at 1-1.  

Corey Ragsdale, who pitched in the Mets system last year,  got the start at second base and delivered the biggest hit of the game with a bases-clearing double in the Riders decisive fifth.

Max Ramirez worked a pair of walks before smoking a double into the left-center gap while Elvis Andrus singled for his only hit in four trips and turned the first of what will undoubtedly be many double plays at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

In relief, Kendy Batista made an extremely good impression in a very crisp eighth, getting Drew Meyer looking at an 80ish breaking ball before getting the last  two outs of the inning on just three pitches that induced two grounders to Davis at first base. 

Frisco hits the road for the first week of the season.   Here is Frisco's complete roster:
